Chi Nei Tsang Abdominal Massage
Chi Nei Tsang can be translated to "Qi of the Internal Organs." This type of massage focuses on the abdomen, pelvis and thorax. These areas are often not included in a typical therapeutic massage, but there are many reasons to give these areas special attention. Many people experience tension in their abdomen, as well as scar tissue, inflammation and inhibited circulation. Abdominal massage can help relax these tissues and improve circulation to the internal organs. It can also be deeply relaxing. Chi Nei Tsang moves gradually through the body's layers. First releasing the skin, then the fascia and muscles and finally moving to the organs, taking extra time to soften areas of tension or obstruction.
Many conditions can benefit from abdominal massage but those that come to mind the most are:
- Infertility - blood flow is so important!
- Other women's health concerns: endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, pelvic congestion syndrome, dysmenorrhea/painful periods, cesarean scarring, cysts, fibroids
- surgical adhesions and scar tissue
- digestive disorders, especially constipation, bloating
Chi Nei Tsang treatments last approximately 25 minutes and are designed to be added on to acupuncture. Chi Nei Tsang is not billable to insurance, so I try to keep the cost affordable. I focus on the abdomen and leave the Pelvic Floor work to the Physical Therapists who specialize in this area. Feel free to ask me for a recommendation.
